The good news is that this is probably the last slideshow from our summer vacation.

The bad news is that it is now the end of October and I am guessing I have a lot more pictures of these twerps to torture entertain you with.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter how nice a camera I own. I still cannot take a good picture. I think the problem is I am always in a hurry. Good photographers probably take their time?

Bible Tuesday – Revelation Part 25

I saw another powerful Angel coming down out of Heaven wrapped in a cloud. There was a rainbow over his head, his face was sun-radiant, his legs pillars of fire. He had a small book open in his hand. He placed his right foot on the sea and his left foot on land, then called out thunderously, a lion roar. When he called out, the Seven Thunders called back. When the Seven Thunders spoke, I started to write it all down, but a voice out of Heaven stopped me, saying, “Seal with silence the Seven Thunders; don’t write a word.”

Revelation 10:1-4

Ok, I have absolutely no idea what is going on here. It’s pretty cool imagery though.  Let’s see what else happens.

Then the Angel I saw astride sea and land lifted his right hand to Heaven and swore by the One Living Forever and Ever, who created Heaven and everything in it, earth and everything in it, sea and everything in it, that time was up—that when the seventh Angel blew his trumpet, which he was about to do, the Mystery of God, all the plans he had revealed to his servants, the prophets, would be completed.

Revelation 10:5-7

Is this 10 kinds of awesome or what?  The mystery of God completed.  Can you imagine?

This is why I LOVE Revelation.  God has a plan.  And no matter what we do, that plan will be completed. It’s so much bigger than we can comprehend and I am so glad.

The voice out of Heaven spoke to me again: “Go, take the book held open in the hand of the Angel astride sea and earth.” I went up to the Angel and said, “Give me the little book.” He said, “Take it, then eat it. It will taste sweet like honey, but turn sour in your stomach.” I took the little book from the Angel’s hand and it was sweet honey in my mouth, but when I swallowed, my stomach curdled. Then I was told, “You must go back and prophesy again over many peoples and nations and languages and kings.”

Revelation 10:8-11

What the heck is this little book?  And don’t you love how obedient John is?  My guess (based upon a lot of scripture) is that angels are pretty terrifying characters. (Have you ever noticed that anytime one shows up in the Bible, the first thing they say is “Fear Not”?) The angel says “eat the book” and John is all ‘okey dokey’.   But that obedience gets John a prophecy of his own.  He is going to leave Patmos.  And he still has a lot of work to do.  Their is no biblical retirement ya’ll.  If you love Jesus, you have to talk about it UNTIL YOU DIE! (And probably after that too although I can’t prove it…yet!)

Book Review – Where’d You Go Bernadette?

Book Review – Where’d You Go Bernadette?

bern

You know books don’t always have to be deep.  In fact, it’s probably better if most of them aren’t.  Let’s face it.  This world is a scary, confusing, depressing place a lot of the time.  This book might help you forget for just a minute.

Bernadette is a nutball.  I mean that in a positive way.  She’s just one of those characters you will never forget.  She is a bit of a recluse by accident.  (And if Lauren didn’t drag me out in public weekly, I could be a recluse too so I totally get this chick.)  Bernadette is smart and funny.  I have read many books that I thought were humorous.  But ya’ll, I LITERALLY laughed out loud while reading this thing. (And I am actually using the term literally in the correct way here.)

Go read it immediately.  Then call me so we can giggle about Bernadette’s letter about Microsoft.
