The Goal – Week 28

“7 days to a flat stomach!”

“6 weeks to a bikini ready bod!”

“Thin Thighs in 10 days!”

 

The very best thing about having a trainer you trust is the blissful ability to ignore all the fitness nonsense in the universe.  I have freed up so much mental space.  I probably could actually learn trigonometry now but I choose not to.

The media, the world, the whatever sell us on this nonsense because we are desperate and we SO want these promises to be true.  We need them to be true.  And year after year no matter how much the evidence stacks against them, the seductive advertising  winds it’s way into our lives.  And the dangerous part is that we often believe this crap works for everyone but us.  Let me save you a bunch of heartache friends.  It’s not you.

But it’s a bit difficult to sell a magazine with an article called “Marginally Thinner Thighs after 87 workouts”  or “Sweat Your Bootie Off in 9 Short Months!”  Reality is not sexy a bit, is it?

Despite all the hard data that says I have a 5% chance to lose the weight and keep it off, I never waiver in my belief that I will do just that.  (I am concerned I may be drawing social security when that day arrives…but still.)   As I take these baby steps down what appears to be a ridiculously long road, I rejoice that I am now walking in the truth.
